JPAC is a Consulting Party to the review process for the Metra 59th/60th Street Station rehabilitation project. We have received several documents related to that process which we are sharing with our membership for review. We are able to pass along comments on this final plan, but our approval of it is not required. The note we received is below, followed by the documents.

On behalf of the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Region V, and in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement between the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Illinois State Historic Preservation Officer regarding the Metra 59th/60th Street Station Rehabilitation Project, Cook County, Illinois (MOA), executed April 15, 2024, at the link below please find the Draft Interpretive Elements (IE) for the Metra 59th/60th Street Station Depots.

The Draft IE, as required under MOA Stipulation III. A., has been prepared to be in conformance with the Standards and Practices for Interpretive Planning from the National Association for Interpretation, to be consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, and includes themes addressed during the Consulting Parties Process. The Draft IE denotes install locations within the depots, shown in schematic plans, and rendered in text and graphics.
In accordance with Stipulation III. A. 1. of the MOA, Metra has submitted the Draft IE to FTA for review and comment. The attached draft plan incorporates comments received from FTA. The next step in this process is for Signatories and Consulting Parties to review and provide comments on this draft.
FTA respectfully requests your review of the Draft IE. Consulting Parties have thirty (30) calendar days to provide comments on this draft. After receipt of your comments and in coordination with FTA, Metra will take into account any comments on the Draft IE and proceed with the preparation of the Final IE. The Final IE will be distributed to all Signatories and Consulting parties for an additional 30-day review.
