Soundwalk: Sounds of Summer Childhood, Present and Past

The Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology invites anyone interested to join a soundwalk in Jackson Park.

Soundwalkers tune in to the sounds along this gorgeous stretch of South Shore’s beachfront which includes a limestone path, the LaRabida Children’s Hospital grounds, the Promontory and a marina. We’ll consider histories of healing and harm, built environments, and access to these spaces for children, as well as internal responses and memories the soundscape evokes. Participants are invited to use the experience to craft their own notes for living an engaged life during a concluding meditation led by Avreeayl Ra, who has engaged in a practice of sound-making in Jackson Park and along the waterfront for many years.
