JPAC does not manage special event permits or rentals in Jackson Park and is not able to provide advice beyond what is found below.

These are managed by the Chicago Park District. Much more information is available on their website. In particular, their “Do I need a permit?” page can help you determine if the event you are planning may require a permit or venue rental. As of May 2025, some general notes about these policies as they apply to Jackson Park.

  • For events inside the Jackson Park fieldhouse, start by contacting the fieldhouse. The phone number is 773-256-0903.
  • 63rd Street Beach and Beachouse is managed separately as a Special Event Venue.
  • If your outdoor event in the park meets ANY of the following criteria you should inquire about a permit.
    • 50 or more people* (including large picnics or festivals)
    • Advertising or sponsorship activities 
    • Alcohol  
    • Amplified sound (e.g. loudspeakers, amplifiers, powered megaphones) 
    • Animals (e.g. petting zoo, pony rides, horses) 
    • Ceremonies (e.g. baptisms, dedications, weddings, & other services) 
    • Exercise classes or boot camps
    • Flying Machine (e.g. drones)  
    • Generators 
    • Guaranteed Use of Space** 
    • Inflatables 
    • Selling and/or distributing merchandise, services or food (e.g. vendors) 
    • Stages 
    • Tents/canopies (e.g. 10×10 popup)  
    • Organized Walk/Run/Bike or Parade Route
