The Chicago Police Department is primarily responsible for policing in Jackson Park, though the University of Chicago Police Department service area includes a portion of the park and the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and the Obama Foundation employ private security. Districts & Beats
The Chicago Police Department is organized citywide into a number of police districts, and each district is subdivided into beats. All of Jackson Park falls within District 003, Beat 331. Adjacent areas to the south and southwest fall in beats 332, 321, and 314.
Areas immediately north and northwest of the park (including the northern portion of 57th Street Beach and Promontory Point) are in District 002, Beat 235. Because this is a different district than the rest of the park, coordination can pose specific difficulties.
